For many students, the option to play their favorite sports is an important feature of the Summer Session. In addition to the athletic offerings in the afternoon, we have a robust evening intramural program that offers you, at whatever your level of expertise, a chance to compete against other teams of students and faculty on campus.
Evening intramural games occur four times each week—Monday and Wednesday nights for basketball, Tuesday and Thursday nights for soccer—and are open to boys and girls at any level of play and experience. Teams who have the best records compete against one another in a tournament held in the final week of the Summer Session.
The semi-final and final games in our intramural tournaments have traditionally been among the most popular and exciting events on campus. Those who do not wish to compete cheer their friends on. Our head coaches, all of whom have experience coaching during the academic year, organize these intramural games.
Teams are organized by ability level so that everyone gets a chance to play, and coaches ensure that, above all, the athletes learn the value of mutual respect, good sportsmanship, and teamwork. Throughout Summer Session, the intramural program takes place each night, Monday through Thursday, between dinner and study hall.
