Living in a boarding school environment has many advantages for students and often contributes in unique ways to both academic and personal growth. An important component in this learning process is the development of life-long, positive habits of body and mind.
Cushing’s Summer Session Health and Wellness program is a comprehensive curriculum designed to engage students in all aspects of healthy living and to encourage daily habits that will last long after they depart campus.
Throughout the summer, our staff presents informational and interactive forums that include such topics as nutrition, physical fitness, stress reduction, conflict resolution, and strategies to develop and maintain positive relationships with family, friends, and peers. These forums are facilitated by, among others, members of our medical staff, dining services staff, and counseling department
To support this programming, health and wellness information is posted in all dormitories and common spaces and is accessible to all students at Cushing Summer Session.
In addition, Cushing Summer Session has a full-time, licensed counselor on staff available 24/7. Counseling services at Cushing Academy are designed to provide an additional source of support, intervention, and care to students. Services are available to help students address the typical challenges of adolescence, as well as the unique demands of boarding-school life.
